The eye behind the lens.

I have been taking photos in a deliberate sense  for 4 years. What had begun purely as an experiment has morphed into a   personal journey of frame/focus and mistakes/miracles. My mission is not overly complicated: I attempt to capture  the image I see in my mind. I have found that this pushes me towards photographing faces and landscapes, but capturing them in their natural  form, uncurated, impulsive.

I  would describe my style as ‘documentary.’

I primarily use a Canon AE-1 Program. It’s a simple camera from the early 80s. A lot of people own one. I bought mine on a whim in a convenience store parking lot in Texas and it’s the first camera I ever bought. It was specifically designed for anyone to be able to use. So I am aware that I’m doing something that anyone else could hypothetically do. That’s part of why I love it but that also means that the eye behind the lens is where that extra something has to come from.

Past work has showcased at 3 Weaver’s Brewing Co. and in association with Kali’s Cure.

I think story is important. Civilizations are built on story. Story is time travel and it’s anything you want it to be. I believe the heart of a good photo is a story, unrehearsed, and natural in it’s way. I’ll do what I can to capture it.
